Winter Junior Golf Program

A new Winter Junior Golf Program will be rolling out in January 2014! 

The winter program is designed to keep juniors active and keep juniors swinging!! Classes will be held at Falcon Crest Golf Club and at OffTheField.

We will be using the Learning Center at Falcon Crest, which is the building on the North side of the driving range. The building is equipped with electricity, heat and a garage door that opens to the driving range which will allow us to hit balls from inside the toasty building out to the range. 

As we will be using the Learning Center for part of the instruction and hitting, class sizes will be small as space is limited. 4 maximum students will be in each class. 2 different categories of classes are available. Categories are: Winter Linksters or Snow Strikers.

The Winter Linksters category is for juniors who are at a higher playing level. These juniors take golf seriously and are looking to improve their skills before spring when high school golf starts, or are looking to improve their skills for competition and their upcoming goals for golf in 2014. In this class we will also work on nutrition as it relates to golf & being an elite athlete, and the physical fitness component of golf. The physical fitness training will be golf specific.

The Snow Strikers category is for juniors who may be a little younger but still want to keep golfing throughout the winter. This class will focus on fundamentals, but also more advanced instruction will be given as the fundamental skills are achieved. In this class the physical fitness component will also be introduced with golf-related stretches and resistance training with no weights.

If you have a question whether your junior would be a Winter Linkster or a Snow Striker please let me know and I can help place them in the appropriate class. 

Classes will be taught by me, Erica Haney, Golf Instructor, and by Taylor Bateman, Performance Coach.

Wednesdays at 4:30: Level 1

Tonight is the last night of summer league before the Junior Club Championship on August 19th.

Tonight's Activities:

5:00 - 5:45 Check in at the table on the deck

5:15 - 5:45 Free Junior Clinic. Tonight's focus: chipping (we will be at the chipping green behind the putting green)

5:55 Announcements on the deck

6:00 Head out to holes

Junior League Participants please remember to sign-in next to your name. A sign-in sheet will be located on a table on the deck. You may then join us for the free clinic if you wish at the chipping green. 

Tonight Juniors will play the Falcon Crest Championship course, the Freedom Championship course, and the Robin Hood executive course.

Junior League Members will now have the option to participate in an instructional clinic held before each league play-day! 

This is free of charge for all league members and I am excited to offer this benefit to the Junior League Members! 

The clinic will begin at 5:15pm. Tee off times will still be at 6:00pm. 

We have 7 more league days left and it's not too late join the Junior League! You can sign up in the pro shop.

Junior Golf News and Pictures!

The clinic this weekend was fantastic! Over 60 juniors came out for the event!!! We had a lot of fun, the weather was perfect and everyone met new friends and caught up with old ones. Instruction was given and all the juniors got to hit golf balls at the driving range towards different targets and through hula hoops that stood 3 high!! 

I want to thank all the juniors for coming on Saturday and for bringing their best golf etiquette! What an awesome group of young golfers we have!!! I'm so excited for this year of junior golf!

All Junior programs are transitioning to Falcon Crest Golf Club. 

The remainder of the spring classes (Academies) will be held at Falcon Crest Golf Club. This is week 4 of spring class!

The summer classes will start at Falcon Crest Golf Club the week of June 9th. 

The summer class schedule will be posted within the week (each junior will be assigned a day & time and they will attend the same class/grouping for 6-weeks).

I encourage ALL juniors available to attend the free clinic at Falcon Crest Golf Club on Saturday, June 1st at 2:00pm. 

It's going to be a lot of fun, educational and a great time for new and old students to come together and students from all the classes or students interested in signing up for a class or league to enjoy a Saturday afternoon with friends & family. 

Also, mark your calendars for the Junior League. Junior League will be at Falcon Crest Golf Club. Juniors will either play on the Robin Hood or the Freedom Courses depending on their skill level, age and golf course availability. 

League will be Monday evenings, starting June 10th. The last day of league will be August 19 which will be the Junior Club Championship. League will always be at 6:00 pm. Sign ups are being taken at the Falcon Crest Pro Shop.

Exciting News: Move to Falcon Crest

I am so excited to share with all of my Clients, Supporters and Junior Golfers that I have acquired a teaching position at Falcon Crest Golf Club.

Starting next week all of my lessons and junior programs will be conducted at Falcon Crest GC!! Falcon Crest and myself are thrilled to grow and expand on my current junior golf programs and I am looking forward to the best year yet for the juniors!

Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to speak with many of you- my students and parents at spring practice this week and want to sincerely thank you for your support of this move and for sharing my excitement with me.

All spring class days and times will remain the same, only they will be held up the road at Falcon Crest. We will meet by the putting green next week (week of May 19th).

If you have registered, or will be registering for a summer class please note classes will no longer be held at Boise Ranch Golf Course.

I am thankful to Boise Ranch for allowing me to begin my teaching career there and for allowing me to start the beginning of this incredible ride I envisioned many years ago to involve so many juniors in golf! I could not be happier and never imagined how incredible and fulfilling my career-path would be as every day the juniors have more fun than the last, tackle new obstacles and we come together to accomplish goals - which are only evolving each day.

The Junior League will be transferred to Robin Hood @ Falcon Crest and will be held Monday evenings at 6:00pm starting June 10th, and commencing August 19th with the Club Championship. Starting next week you may sign up for the league at the Falcon Crest pro shop.

On Saturday June 1st I will be holding a FREE Junior Clinic at 2pm at Falcon Crest Golf Club. As space is limited please call and register in the pro shop if interested! #208-362-8897.

This will also be the perfect time to also register for the Junior League, Summer Classes, ask any questions and participate in a fun and enjoyable Saturday afternoon. Clinic open to Juniors of all ages and abilities. Limited number of junior clubs will be available for use during the clinic.

Student of the Week!

Student of the Week: Hannah Dupay
Age 10

  
Hannah Dupay of Boise, Idaho is named Student of the Week. Despite recent foot surgery in March, Dupay has maintained her goals for the year in golf and an inspiring practice regime. With mom Lisha by her side every step of the way, Hannah comes for lessons every week. 

Dupay's favorite club is a 9-iron which she hits about 110 yards. Her favorite color of golf ball to play is pink and her favorite quote is "Drive for show, putt for dough." 

When Hannah grows up if she is not a golfer she aspires to be a research pharmacist. Dupay would also like to help people with cancer and find cures for cancer. 

Dupay was introduced to golf by her grandpa at the age of 2 or 3. Hannah recalls practicing her putting with her grandpa at a young age. Now at age 10, she practices at the golf course 3x a week and practices at home. 

Hannah's goals this year are to win State and the Diamond Cup. Her long-term goal is to be on the PGA Tour and shoot a 59 on 18-holes.
