Spring Break Junior Golf Camp 2015

 2015 Spring Break Junior Golf Camp at Falcon Crest Golf Club!

The Camp is all day, 9:00am - 4:00pm, Monday thru Friday, March 23 - March 27.

The camp will be fun and educational no matter what your age or level. Juniors will be grouped together throughout the camp based on age and level so all playing levels are welcome! Juniors age 7 & up are invited. 

Durring the camp we will utilize the premier practice facility at Falcon Crest, including our distinguished putting green in the valley- integrated with undulation and flat planes giving juniors the opportunity to experience and learn the putting skills & artistry for every condition. We will also use the chipping green, complete with sand bunkers that give way to all types of lies- uphill, downhill, flat, against the edge, over the lip, etc. The large practice facility also gives us the opportunity to render and practice different "real" golf shots- shots under trees, over trees, on side hills, in long grass, in fairway bunkers, in different obstacles, etc. Juniors will leave the camp with a well-rounded understanding of all types of shots that they will be capable of executing when they encounter them on the golf course! 

Durring the camp we will utilize all 3 courses for instruction and supervised play. 

Mornings will consist of instruction and afternoons will consist of playing rounds on Robin Hood, Freedom and Falcon Crest. 

This year we are offering a 1/2 day option at a lower rate, great for younger juniors, or juniors just wanting very honed-in instruction covering every facet of the game. The 1/2 day camp is from 9:00am to 12:00pm daily.

Instructor & Director of the Camp Erica Haney will be at the course every day, all day, except Sunday if you would like to come on in and meet her & talk with her when you register. Other instructors Ryan Nielson and Rick O'Neill will also be available in the shop. We will be more then happy to answer any of your questions! 

Please be advised the camp is limited to the first 20 participants who sign up and spots usually fill up quickly. So if your junior is set on doing the camp this year don't wait for the last minute!

Nike Golf Camp!

The Nike Junior Golf Camp starts next week! 
Falcon Crest Golf Club and Erica Haney feature the only Nike golf camp location in the State of Idaho!

Join us for our August Nike Golf Camp and last day-camp of the year! 
The camp runs all week, Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Full Day Campers enjoy 3 hours of instruction each morning covering all facets of the game, menu-ordered lunch, and then course-play with on-course coaching and instruction. 

Durring the week, full day campers will be thrilled to play all 3 courses the club has to offer - the Falcon Crest Championship Course, the Freedom Course, and our Robin Hood executive course! 

Half Day Camp is also available from 9:00am to 12:00pm. 

All Campers will receive a Nike amenity package which includes a dozen golf balls, a hat, water bottle, bag tag, camp workbook, & additional prizes!

Spring Break Junior Golf Camp 2014

The 2014 Spring Break Junior Golf Camp is just a month away! 

The camp is all day, 9:00am - 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday, March 24 - March 28.

The camp will be a lot of fun for every junior. All levels are welcome. We will utilize the premier practice facility at Falcon Crest, including the putting green, chipping green, practice bunkers & driving ranges. We will also be using all 3 golf courses for instruction and supervised play! Instruction will cover every facet of the game.

The 2014 Junior Golf Schedule of Programs is available in hard copy at the Falcon Crest Pro Shop. Applications are also available in the pro shop if you would like to swing by and pick the material up. You may also register and pay in the pro shop for any of the 2014 programs.

The Winter Golf Program is here!

The winter golf program will kick-off on February 1st. 

The program combines a fitness program tailored for the golf-athlete and golf instruction/coaching. Half the classes will take place at OffTheField located at Axiom Performance Center in Meridian and the other half of the classes will take place at Falcon Crest Golf Club.

Our OffTheField Performance Coach will be Taylor Bateman and golf instruction and coaching will be conducted by me, Erica Haney. Both Taylor and I are excited for this program, and we guarantee the juniors will be excited to participate and we expect to increase each athlete's club head speed, strength, and self confidence. I also expect to see golf swings improve and other fundamentals important to the swing.

There will be 9 class sessions total. Juniors will be divided up into two groups based on ability and age.
The two groups are The Winter Linksters and The Snow Strikers.

The Winter Linksters category is for juniors who are at a higher playing level. These juniors take golf seriously and are looking to improve their skills before spring when high school golf starts, or are looking to improve their skills for competition and their upcoming goals for golf in 2014. 

The Snow Strikers category is for juniors who may be a little younger but still want to keep golfing throughout the winter. This class will focus on fundamentals, but also more advanced instruction will be given as the fundamental skills are achieved. 

Both classes will work on nutrition as it relates to golf & being an elite athlete, and the physical fitness component of golf. The physical fitness training will be golf specific. 

Durring the winter it is vital to prepare for the upcoming season and draw attention to the fitness fundamentals that improve our on-course performance. In this winter session I'm aiming to take advantage of the off-season, for those juniors who want it, by focusing on 3 major areas: stretching, nutrition, and resistance/isometric fitness training. By focusing on these 3 areas, a strong balance will be created and that will allow us to see improvements in their game. 

Fitness movements will be centered on strengthening juniors' rotational core muscle groups by learning exercises based on the transverse plane of movement. This will increase club-head speed, distance, endurance, accuracy and symmetry in their golf swings. 

Nutrition is an integral part of daily lives and junior golfers need to know how to fuel their bodies on and off the course for success.

Stretching before and after golf rounds is essential to a relaxed swing and positive mental readiness. In the class we will also focus on some athletic stretches that will create flexibility needed to avoid injury and fatigue!

In conjunction with the fitness training we will also be working on the golf swing. Swing Analyses for each individual will be conducted regularly and individual instruction will be given as well as group coaching. 

I will expect the juniors to work on some of the things from class outside of class. I will provide golf drills and Taylor will provide different exercises, the activities we provide can be done at home. 

Schedule:

February 1st - all juniors from both classes will meet at OffTheField at noon for initial evaluations and program rundown as well as nutritional information. 

Snow Strikers will meet on Tuesdays at OffTheField from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. 

Dates: February 4, February 11, February 18, February 25

Snow Strikers will meet on Fridays at Falcon Crest Golf Club from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. 

Dates: February 7, February 21, February 28
no class February 14, instead class will be on Wed. February 12

Winter Linksters will meet on Thursdays at OffTheField from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Dates: February 6, February 13, February 20, February 27

Winter Linksters will meet on Mondays at Falcon Crest Golf Club from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

Dates: February 3, February 10, February 17, February 24

9 classes total for each group. 

In addition, I will be scheduling on the 1st Saturday we meet individual time slots of 30 minutes for one-on-one swing analysis with each junior golfer.

Erica Haney named 2013 Top 50 Honorable Mention for US Kids Teachers

U.S. Kids Golf has announced the recipients of the Top 50 Kids Teachers Award and Honorable Mention Award, which annually recognizes the world's most outstanding youth golf instructors.

I am pleased to announce I was recently recognized as an Honorable Mentioned Top 50 Kids Teacher for 2013. I was also awarded this award for 2012 and am honored to receive the accolade again this year. From the state of Idaho I am one of two people who have ever been awarded as a Top U.S. Kids Golf Teacher.

Dan Van Horn, President of the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation wrote the following:
This year's pool was the largest and strongest ever, and your selection as an Honorable Mention recipient recognizes your commitment to youth golf and the impact of your program. From the record-setting pool of nearly 750 applicants, the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation Committee has recognized 150 instructors - 50 earned the Top 50 Kids Teacher Award and 100 instructors earned Honorable Mention accolades. 

I would like to thank the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation for selecting me as one of the top junior instructors in the world and for honoring my dedication as a junior coach and my dedication to making an impact through developing the game of golf among our youth.

Winter Junior Golf Program

A new Winter Junior Golf Program will be rolling out in January 2014! 

The winter program is designed to keep juniors active and keep juniors swinging!! Classes will be held at Falcon Crest Golf Club and at OffTheField.

We will be using the Learning Center at Falcon Crest, which is the building on the North side of the driving range. The building is equipped with electricity, heat and a garage door that opens to the driving range which will allow us to hit balls from inside the toasty building out to the range. 

As we will be using the Learning Center for part of the instruction and hitting, class sizes will be small as space is limited. 4 maximum students will be in each class. 2 different categories of classes are available. Categories are: Winter Linksters or Snow Strikers.

Junior Golf News and Pictures!

The clinic this weekend was fantastic! Over 60 juniors came out for the event!!! We had a lot of fun, the weather was perfect and everyone met new friends and caught up with old ones. Instruction was given and all the juniors got to hit golf balls at the driving range towards different targets and through hula hoops that stood 3 high!! 

I want to thank all the juniors for coming on Saturday and for bringing their best golf etiquette! What an awesome group of young golfers we have!!! I'm so excited for this year of junior golf!

All Junior programs are transitioning to Falcon Crest Golf Club. 

The remainder of the spring classes (Academies) will be held at Falcon Crest Golf Club. This is week 4 of spring class!

The summer classes will start at Falcon Crest Golf Club the week of June 9th. 

The summer class schedule will be posted within the week (each junior will be assigned a day & time and they will attend the same class/grouping for 6-weeks).

I encourage ALL juniors available to attend the free clinic at Falcon Crest Golf Club on Saturday, June 1st at 2:00pm. 

It's going to be a lot of fun, educational and a great time for new and old students to come together and students from all the classes or students interested in signing up for a class or league to enjoy a Saturday afternoon with friends & family. 

Also, mark your calendars for the Junior League. Junior League will be at Falcon Crest Golf Club. Juniors will either play on the Robin Hood or the Freedom Courses depending on their skill level, age and golf course availability. 

League will be Monday evenings, starting June 10th. The last day of league will be August 19 which will be the Junior Club Championship. League will always be at 6:00 pm. Sign ups are being taken at the Falcon Crest Pro Shop.
